The Shadow Crown is an armour item introduced in Total War: Warhammer II. It is a legendary item for Alith Anar.
It is a hidden legendary item. As of the Potion of Speed update, hidden items are no longer hidden and will appear on the character's skill tree.
The mission to obtain it will appear after you pass turn 10 (possibly turn 2 now as of the Doomsayers Update). The mission requires you to conquer the Nagarythe (province) from the Scourge of Khaine faction. However, it Scourge of Khaine lose control of any of the settlements in Nagarythe then the mission will not trigger, or will disappear. As a result, it can be very difficult for players to obtain this item during a campaign.
In the patch notes for the Doomsayers Update, Creative Assembly stated that the mission for the Shadow Crown 'now triggers correctly'. The item should be unlocked immediately once Alith Anar reaches a certain level.

With the Druchii holding most of Nagarythe, including the Shrine of Khaine, the king's campaign of vengence is at risk. Anar must drive the enemy from his homeland and not let any being close to the Widowmaker.

The Shadow Crown is the symbol of the rightful rulers of Nargarythe, a simple silver circlet set with a single diamond. By speaking the name of his kingdom, and defiantly claiming his rulership, Alith Anar can freeze time for a blink of an eye, giving himself a brief instant to slip away from harm. [1]
